Though temperatures continue to hover around the 40Cs this week, it may feel hotter as the country is officially in the throes of the humid weather season.

According to the Qatar Meteorology Department (MET), it will be hot and slightly dusty during the day, with the high reaching 40C (104F) in Doha and up to 50C (122F) in Al Ruwais, in the northern part of the country.

Temperatures will cool to 31C (88F) by evening, but it will be humid and hazy, the MET added.

To avoid heat-related illnesses, health officials have previously recommended:

  • Increasing fluid intake;
  • Avoiding heavy meals (which can raise body temperature);
  • Staying indoors between 10am and 3pm when the heat is at its peak; and
  • Never leaving infants, children or pets unattended in a parked car. Even if the air conditioning is on, kids could be affected by noxious fumes, officials added.

Thoughts?
