World No. 6 tennis star Maria Sharapova has pulled out from playing in the Qatar Total Open later this month due to a recurrent arm injury, organizers said.
Announcing her withdrawal yesterday, the 28-year-old said in a statement: “Unfortunately, I will not be able to play the Qatar Total Open because of my left forearm injury. I would like to wish the tournament and all the great fans in Doha a great week of tennis and I hope to see them next year.”
The tournament runs from Feb. 21 to 27 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
