World No. 1 Serena Williams will not compete in the 2016 Qatar Total Open because she is sick with the flu, the Qatar Tennis Federation has said.
In a statement, Williams said she does “not feel 100 percent. I need to take this time to recover but I do look forward to returning to Doha and seeing my fans soon.” The tournament kicks off on Sunday, Feb. 21 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
