An international human rights organization has repeated its calls for an investigation into allegations made by three Filipino men convicted of spying in Qatar that they were tortured while in custody.
Earlier this week, the Court of Cassation upheld a previous ruling that sentenced Abdullah Yusuf Tan Chua to life imprisonment and Raphael Alamares and Ronald Ulep to 15 years in prison. James Lynch, a deputy director at Amnesty International, said in a statement yesterday that the “unfair trial … is the latest demonstration of the deep flaws in Qatar’s criminal justice system.”
