Al Majad Bakery and Sweets
A popular bakery near TV roundabout was closed for two months for flouting Qatar’s food safety rules.
Al Majad Bakery and Sweets was given the maximum penalty for preparing food under unhygienic conditions, according the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).
However, the ministry only posted the announcement online this week, even though the violation was dated May 29.
This means the bakery has already reopened for business.

On Friday, the Qatar Tribune reported that officials closed an Al Markhiya bakery for 60 days after it was written up and warned several times to follow food law provisions.
The newspaper cited Doha Municipality Director Jamal Mattar al Nuaimi as saying the latest closure came for failing to comply to health requirements.
Other erring outlets
Elsewhere in Qatar, some 92 outlets were closed in the first six months of 2016 for flouting food safety regulations.
QNA said the shops were fined more than QR1.3 million, following some 12,105 inspections of mall kiosks, supermarkets and butchers, among other places.
Municipal inspectors also examined 84,033 tonnes of vegetables and fruits at the Central Market. They destroyed 1,050 tonnes after the items were found unfit for human consumption.
