Foggy morning
A thick blanket of fog greeted many early risers in Qatar this morning, dropping visibility and slowing traffic to a crawl in some places.
Last night, the Qatar Meteorology Department (MET) warned of thick fog especially in the northern and western parts of the country:
Fog also covered much of Doha early this morning, though it appears to be dissipating quickly:
No hazard lights
The MET advised motorists to drive more carefully, leaving extra space between vehicles and avoiding passing or overtaking each other.
It added that drivers should not use high-beam or hazard lights while driving, as the latter is only meant to indicate emergency stopping.
Instead, use fog and low beam headlights, the MET said. The Ministry of Interior echoed the message:
