American singer-songwriter Jason Derulo is scheduled to perform tomorrow night, Jan. 28, at a post-match concert for the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship, organizers have confirmed.

Derulo will sing after the end of the quarter-final matches at the Lusail Multipurpose Hall. Germany and Qatar will face off at 6:30pm and Denmark and Spain will play at 9pm.

The 25-year-old R&B/rap artist is wildly popular, with nearly 19 million Facebook fans and 3.2 million followers on Twitter.

But with hit songs such as “Talk Dirty” and “Wiggle,” the tattooed performer is an interesting choice for a concert in conservative Qatar.

This doesn’t seem to have deterred handball organizers, who have pushed the envelope this month by bringing in other high-profile artists such as Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani.

The strategy has resulted in higher fan attendance at many handball events, which run through Feb. 1.

For those who wish to check out the Wednesday night matches and concert, tickets for the games can be bought online here. They range in price from QR40 to QR300, and several hundred seats still seemed available on Tuesday night.

Previously, organizers told Doha News that buying a ticket to the game ensures a seat for the post-match concert, but attendees should not show up just before the concert begins.

Do you plan to go to the games? Thoughts?
